I tested and used the set for a couple of weeks to make sure I liked them and that they worked as advertised. Then I put them away until May of 2023, when I started using them again.First thing I noticed is that the battery life was already less then when I had used them 5 months prior. The second thing I noticed was that the balance was a little off. So I reset them as per the instructions online and they appeared to be fine, except the battery life. I was content at the time to let it go. I used them for about a month again before I got a horrible screeching in the left ear bud. I looked online and it suggested resetting them. So I did and it was fine again. For a week. Then any time I had the noise cancelling on and wasn't actively playing some sound I had that screech. Fortunately I was able to live with that by not taking them from the case until I was actively using them.Well, fall came and I put them away until this March. Everything is the same, except now the sound in the left ear is less than half of the right ear, and nothing I can do to fix it. I don't know if I just got a bad set, but not using the noise cancelling or being able to hear the left ear without boosting it with a software equalizer pretty much completely negates the reason I bought them.I should have had them replaced by Tozo after the first problem. Maybe I just got a bad set, but I advise caution, you can get a cheap set for $15 that sound as good with no noise cancelling and not have any of the problems of this set. I listen to my NC7’s at half-volume on my iPhone. I found the NC9’s I had to go to full volume and they still weren’t as loud as the NC7’s at half. The second thing that I noticed is the almost total lack of bass. Third, the noise cancellation is lousy. I mean LOUSY! I turned on my shop vac and could no longer hear the music. With the NC’7s I can run the vac and I can still hear the music but might have to bump the volume up a little. Heck I use the 7’s while I’m running the lawnmower or the leaf blower! I do not think that you could use the NC9’s on an airplane. The charging seems not to work correctly. On my NC7’s the LED’s are red during charging and turn blue when charged. The NC9’s stay red continuously so apparently they never stop charging. Lastly, the NC7’s have a nice voice that says; “Power On”, “Pairing”, “Connected”. The noise cancelling works very well, especially for things like mowing the lawn, etc… Interestingly though, I bought these for riding my bike and actually found that in both the noise cancelling and transparent modes, the wind noise was amplified and made even worse. BUT - surprisingly to me - in the ANC *OFF* mode, the wind noise virtually disappeared. So I always rode my bike in that mode and they worked quite well for my purpose.Now the bad… in less than a year, the left earbud started to no longer respond to ‘tapping’ over 95% of the time. So if I inadvertently switched to the wrong mode, I was often stuck in that mode for days until I was able to switch it again (which I was only able to do completely at random). But I dealt with this. However, more recently, the volume would suddenly start to increase to maximum on its own, sometimes repeatedly, or it would power completely off on its own and I’d have to reboot it. Even the charging case barely held a charge anymore.
