Is it compatible with 240 volt? |

The camera is POE. It all depends upon what switch or power injector you are using to feed it. |

Power comes from your nvr, so if it is good for that voltage than you should be good camera power would not change. |

This camera is ether POE or 12 Volts DC local, so a 240 Volt POE switch or injector will work or 240 to 12 Volt DC 1 watt power supply will work. You will need to run a Ethernet cable to connect this camera to a network |

You have to have a power adapter to power the camera from the non-POE port. This should be rated for 240VAC. If you are using POE, then your switch needs to be compatible with 240V. Nearly all consumer-grade switches are 120/240. |

I don't know the answer to that, I have only used it on POE, you have to run a network cable to it anyway, powering it from an outlet also seems odd to me. Worst case scenario you can get a POE injector that is 240V and push power down the network cable still. |

camera takes from either power supply or from PoE cable 12 volts and 500 milliampers. it's your power supply or PoE switch should be voltage compliant. |

What is the power draw of this device? |
2023-01-11 |
Any standard PoE ethernet switch is able to power it with no problem. The PoE standard defines max power draw so anything under that is what it draws. If you are going to power it off the separate power plug then a standard 12v 2A supply should be fine although I would use a larger 3-5A supply. The reason why is that most of those 12v supplies on the market are trash and over time their current output drops as their garbage-grade components age so the higher current supply you use the longer it will last. |

Can't connect to network - yellow fault light at poe switch, suggesting low power. Switch not overloaded! Is the "fault" with a defective camera? |
2023-01-07 |
Try another Poe port if you haven’t already
Go thru the defaulting the camera
Check your cable with an Ethernet tester
Also bring camera to the Poe switch with a new short cable and try to set it up |

2023-01-07 |
Could be a few things and all POE are not equal. Generally POE devices will run from 12 to 48 volts and a switch should automatically adjust to the voltage needed. Try connecting with a short, known good cable, right at the switch to rule out distance or an improperly terminated cable. My outdoor turret has a 12 V power tap that you can plug into an AC adapter. If yours has such an adapter, try that to rule out power failure of the camera. Mine requires a 2 amp 12v adapter. |

I am wanting to use this to replace a current poe camera that went out. Can I just plug this one on the place of the other one and it work?? |
2023-01-11 |
Make sure the Ethernet cable and POE source are good. I have done this before with these Amcrest cameras many times. I have 15 Amcrest POE cameras. Note that if you are trying to replace this with a Torrent camera you will need a separate POE injector because of the power a Torrent camera uses because of the motors. |

2023-01-11 |
Most Ethernet (including POE) cameras, including this one, use a proprietary communication protocol and many, including this one, can also use the more universal ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) protocol. The issue is what protocol your video recorder uses. Most systems purchased as complete systems (a video recorder along with some cameras all in one package) use the proprietary protocol of the cameras included with the system. So, if you bought your system as a package, often from a big box store, you probably need to buy replacement cameras from the system manufacturer. On the other hand, if your system specifically says it can use ONVIF this camera should work.

You can save recordings locally to a NAS or to the Amcrest cloud.
My camera also has local recording to an SD card, but I do not use that.
I can connect to the camera using a cell phone app, but I would not recommend doing that remotely UNLESS you are subscribed to their cloud service it know how to setup a VPN to your house. (CON to your house is way more secure than using their cloud) |
