The camera mounts using a couple of screws to whatever you are mounting it on. There is a connector in back that seals water tight. Inside that connector is an sd card slot, mini usb connector and usb plug that goes through the connector to the solar cell. The solar cell has its own mounting bracket. The solar panel in shade allows the camera to slowly discharge. So while it in sun it is charging the battery, It isn't always. I don't think it tells you when it is.
