Technically you could mount it upside down. My personal concern would be water intrusion into the upper housing. It's designed to be mounted as pictured so the dome on top sheds water like the roof on a house. It's a great camera, I bought a second one after being so impressed with it. I love the preset positions, the auto tracking and the optical zoom. It will follow a person until it can't follow then anymore. It'll then return to the position it was in before it started to auto track. The night vision IR range is ridiculously good. Most often to review/set parameters I log directly into the camera via my Win 10 laptop. Just enter the cam's IP address in your browser. It will ask you to download and install a service app one time (ClientPlus_Setup.exe). Install it and then connect again. It will ask for the UID/PW. Then, once you are connected the two main tabs are to monitor or settings. You need to lan cable it out to the router/modem, then find it with the CAMHI app thru network search, once added on the app you configure the WIFI in the camera, and then you are ready to move it to the final location (within the configured wifi range). Then you can add to any phone in network (also has a pc app) using network search or you can simply copy the UID from the camhi app and the password and anyone can add it, to even if they are connected to another network.
