My camera is absolutely fantastic. It is a wired for power via a cord that I feed through a window and use a cell phone charger. It's very unobtrusive the way I have it. I have no problems with it receiving wifi signals. It even self reconnects should my wifi go down (xfinity evey so often goes out ). I would not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends. You'll have to check youtube and compare camera footage. If you're using it for live view and events, you're getting the full 2k experience. If you're using it to record continuously, it's doing that at 1080p. I find that 2k clips are almost the same on a phone screen as 1080p, but on a larger screen there's a world of difference. It may even trigger further distances but I don't have that much beyond the front of the garages. There us a ajoining parking space alongside the garage and it is easily viewable vua the camera app. It is a perfect solution for my needs. If the camera is set to record 24/7, it will continue to record as long as it’s connected to power and has microSD card. If the camera is set to only record events, it will continue to record as long as it’s connected to power and has microSD card. If your Wi-Fi goes out the camera will still record to the microSD card, however you cannot view the footage or live feed until Wi-Fi returns to functioning status. If the reason the Wi-Fi failed is because of a power loss, the camera will not record until power is returned. Wi-Fi is only used to communicate with the camera to view live feed or recordings. Other forms of communication will not work because it is an inanimate object and will not respond if you’re standing in front of it asking questions. I know because I’ve tried. Very few false triggers . Picture quality is very good. Day and night. These is a setting to turn on a very bright led light at night to bring nighttime color to your vidio when it is triggered . I live in a condo that has detached garages seperated by a perpendicular sidewalk. When ever anyone walks by they trigger the camera and it begins recording and at night turns on the light, and turns off when they are out of the triggring area that you set . No light during daylight hours. To vew these recordings you use an app provided with the camera (easy download) it has a many options. It preforms well and you can access the recordings from anywhere on your cell, tablet, pc. I use a 128gb sd card and it will store recording for upto 12 days. Keep in mind that you may not be able to get continuous recording (24/7 recording) out of using a solar panel, you may need to switch to event recording but never say never, if the battery is strong/big enough and you live in a sunny place where the panel gets lots of sunshine for most of the day, maybe.
