Cold weather? i see it's operational down to 14f. it does get colder than that here in the midwest (us). has anyone tried wrapping insulation around ? 2022-12-01 Hello. The operating temparature of the camera is -10℃~+55℃ (14°F~131°F). Sorry, it is not suggested to wrap the camera, it does not conducive to camera work properly and heat dissipation. Does this camera work with the CamHi app? 2023-04-06 I have both the Reolink and the Cam-Hi app. I use the Reolink app for my Reolink cameras and the Cam-Hi app for another camera. Honestly I never tried using the Cam-Hi app with my Reolink cameras, not sure how to go about it. Ryan Trullinger 2023-04-06
Does this camera work with the CamHi app? 2023-04-06 Hello. Afraid no, since different camera suppliers may use different protocols and thus cause some compatibility issues, we recommend accessing this wifi security outdoor camera via the free Reolink software. How many cameras can I use with the android app? 2023-04-27 Hello. There is no limitation on the number of devices that can be added to the Reolink App. You can add as many Reolink cameras or NVRs to Reolink App as you want. However, Reolink App can only stream up to 16 cameras (1/4/9/16 channel) simultaneously. ReolinkDirect 2023-04-27
What is the WiFi range? 2023-01-21 Hello. As to the WiFi distance, we have run the following tests: Test case 1: in the open area, without any obstacle and interference from other WiFi signal, the distance can reach 70~80 meters (about 210~240 feet), the live video is stable and smooth. Test case 2: Place the camera and router indoor, without interference from other WiFi signal, the distance can be 15 meters with 2 walls in between, the live video is stable and smooth. However, the camera's wifi connection distance depends on your network condition and your environments. You may use a WiFi extender to boost the signal if necessary. ReolinkDirect 2023-01-21
Why is the cable so big? the 3 connectors are going to require a huge hole in the wall to get the connection inside to the power. 2023-01-10 Hello. Besides the cable for the power supply, the ethernet network cable needs to use to initially connect to the network. And the one with a white button is a reset button, it will be useful in case your cameras need troubleshooting. A 3cm hole will be enough to pass the cable one by one to the wall. And if you don't want to drill the hole, you can also use the junction box B10 with this wifi IP camera. Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07TPLYG5H ReolinkDirect 2023-01-10

Does setting up this camera absolutely require the use of the ethernet port? I installed a different wifi camera but didn't use its ethernet port 2023-04-30 It does not require an ethernet port to set it up, however, if you have an issue setting it up in WiFi, I suggest that you use an ethernet port. I set all of my Reolink cameras inside using the ethernet port. Then I verified that they would work on WiFi, then disconnected them from the ethernet port, before I installed them. I have 8 Reolink cameras. If you do the same you will save some stress, trust me. Ryan Trullinger 2023-04-30
Does setting up this camera absolutely require the use of the ethernet port? I installed a different wifi camera but didn't use its ethernet port 2023-04-30 You need to temporarily connect it to an ethernet port on the same network as your phone or computer in order to set up the WIFI password. It can easily be plugged into your router with an ethernet cable. Once the WIFI connection is set, you can move it to the location where it will be installed. Tim G 2023-04-30

Any way to mount this on 1/4"-20 standard camera tripod screw? 2023-01-08 If your tripod mount includes a mounting pad, you could create a functional mount for this camera. The mounting bracket that comes with the Reolink camera kit is about 2-3/4” in diameter, so you might cut a piece of wood to suit, and drill a thru- hole for your 1/4”-20 tripod screw, then fasten the Reolink with the three wood screws that come with kit. Good luck. Amazon Customer 2023-01-08
Any way to mount this on 1/4"-20 standard camera tripod screw? 2023-01-08 I do not believe so, as the cam is quite top heavy and the inbalance between cam and mount would be an issue. Unless there is an aftermarket mount available. ALambl 2023-01-08
Any way to mount this on 1/4"-20 standard camera tripod screw? 2023-01-08 Not directly, one could make a mounting plate out of something, then place a 1/4" female socket on the mounting plate. Mount the plate to the camera then to the tripod or whatever. There might be something available from Reolink, one might check there. Ryan Trullinger 2023-01-08

Can you turn this to point upwards? 2023-04-21 The camera will swivel 90 degrees up and down, and rotate 180 degrees, so it could be mounted on a wall and pointed straight up. The camera will function vertically, but weather would be an issue outdoors. Tim G 2023-04-21

Can you turn this to point upwards? 2023-04-21 Reolink specifies that you need to prevent rain drops from hitting the lens directly. So I would say do not face it upward. Ryan Trullinger 2023-04-22
Can you turn this to point upwards? 2023-04-21 Hello. You can loosen the screw (counterclockwise)with the wrench and adjust the camera in any direction. But it is not suggested to point this 5MP wifi security camera upwards. Otherwise, the lens may accumulate water on rainy days and affect the image. ReolinkDirect 2023-04-22

I see all posts about night vision say its sucks? is the nv that bad? can you make out ppl in the dark? approx real world range on nv? 2023-02-15 The night vision range depends on the camera. This camera's specs say it is 30 meters or 100 feet. That sounds pretty decent, will you be able to recognize a person? I can't say. If the person is within range the odds are good. The way mine is mounted I can't really tell you how good it works on people, but at about 30 feet my garage wall is pretty clear. I hope this helps some. Ryan Trullinger 2023-02-15
I see all posts about night vision say its sucks? is the nv that bad? can you make out ppl in the dark? approx real world range on nv? 2023-02-15 I have two of these Reolink RLC-511WA cameras, but also several other Reolink models. I use all my cameras looking out windows (through glass) except for one of the RLC-511WAs on the front porch. All of the areas are well lit, so I don’t need the night vision. I love the cameras because of the people detection and ability to send critical alerts. xderlq 2023-02-15
I see all posts about night vision say its sucks? is the nv that bad? can you make out ppl in the dark? approx real world range on nv? 2023-02-15 I don't agree ... Mine works fine, if a bit grainy and lacking color. But I am still able to make out objects and ppl without any issues. I do find small spider webs in viewer, and need to go out and wipe them off occasionally. Other than that, no complaints. ALambl 2023-02-16

Is Reolink a Chinese company and can it be trusted? 2022-10-26 According to them, they say that they use AES algorithm for data encryption and RSA/ECDHE algorithm for high-strength key exchange. To be honest I have no clue what any of it means but that's what they advertise. They were established in 2009 and I'm not sure if they are a Chinese company or not but in my experience, the camera has worked very well and I have had 0 issues with the camera itself. Sorry, I'm not a tech expert but hope this helps. Caden Miller 2022-10-26

How are playback videos displayed, as an icon or a picture? 2023-02-27 That would depend on how you are viewing them. I don't have a Reolink NVR, so I can't answer for that. If you have the camera FTP the videos to a PC, you can set the view for the files to give preview icons. If you remote into the camera, you can click on the time of any recording (determined by your record or alarm settings) and it will bring up the video in play. I have the camera FTP to a server which also gives me the option to preview with icons, Tim G 2023-02-27
