The sound from camera cannot be outputted from camera physically as the camera has no built in speaker. The sound is via App or DVR it is connected to. You do not need to use the supplied power cord. In my business I wire them with same barrel adapter coming from a 12v voltage regulator. These are very robust and vandal and weather proof. I’ve never had a problem with them outside in the elements for the years I’ve been using them. The app is very user friendly on your phone and desktop/laptop version for viewing no matter where you are. You can also set up recording schedule and motion alerts. When it asks your for the serial number scan the square on the box or on the back (underside) of the camera. | Does this work with linux | 2022-04-21 | Really depends on what Linux camera/IP network software you use. However, it is a very good network camera. I have several deployed over the years and never had any issues using several platforms. It comes with a downloadable secure interface ti control and configure cams on desktop or remotely on the app. I can also use the ptz functions on the app and set motion parameters and alerts respectively. Just add power and the network cable or use a Poe injector for single cable use depending on your installation type. The wifi is a great addition also as a fall back if network is down for any reason. Also has on board and card slot as a fallback if not going to secure cloud storage through amcrest cloud or port forward to your own server.
