As long as you have network switches with POE capability, they can be powered that way. I actually added a couple of small POE switches to my network, near where these cameras are located and then connected those POE switches to my main network and the cameras to the POE switches. It works perfectly. I may later change my main 24 port switch to POE but for now it works great.
