I'd like to say that you get what you pay for. I bought that cheap one, unsurprisingly, it stopped working after 2 month. And the screen is much smaller than 15 inch. That was a disaster.
Then I bought this new item, and it has been working well so far. I'm 80 years old, and a large screen and loud volume are important to me. I really enjoy using it as a TV to watch my collection of DVDs. |

Yes, there are definitely buttons on the player. I use them and not the remote. The instruction manual is very good and will tell you which buttons you can press in order to activate features. I had to brighten my screen image and used the buttons to do just that. I have had players from a number of different companies, but this one beats them all. |

I can’t see which model you have but I have the eGeek model and I really like it. Yes it has buttons and can be operated with the remote but I would recommend hanging onto the remote which is easier. |

Yes, there are operations buttons on the device if the remote is unavailable. In addition, the device has a nice memory function which brings you back to where you left off even once the device is turned off. |

Yes you can operate the device directly from the unit. However, the remote allows more flexibility, especially if you are using features other than simply play, pause, and rewind. There is no volume control on the device. |

I loved this for the first 10 months or so. The wire connecting the cord to the plug broke off easily. I had to buy a replacement piece but never got the reciept in to ask for refund so I just paid it. Now it skips and and doesn't play as well as it did.
I gave up and bought an old fashion DVD player and plug it into m new TV screen.
I liked it as long as it was working. Although the sound was too low, when I tried using it with friends near the end of my days using it. Now I just keep it in the drawer. It is somewhat useful in an emergency. |

The player comes with two a/c adapters. One plugs into the wall. It has a cord attached which will then plug into the right side of the player. The second adapter is for use with a cigarette lighter unit in an automobile. I would not use an adapter from another piece of equipment. These players are great. Using them with unapproved accessories could start a fire or produce a short. |

I use mine almost every night and I own two of them.
They are also usb rechargeable and you can charge from solar in a pinch.
