Will this camera work with blue iris v5? |
2022-10-22 |
Yes it will the only problem I found that it seemed to stutter that is it would freeze for a couple of seconds but it might have been due to the settings in blue iris. I went back to the Reolink software |

No. Its night vision is black and white. In low light conditions at night e.g. floodights it is grainy and has a low framerate. In my opinion its not a great camera at night. |

Very likely it will. The colour picture stays good in pretty low levels of light, so if you're lighting is good enough, you'll get colour. To be fair even when it switches to black&white for night vision the image quality is still very good. |

2023-05-15 |
Sad to say its not great at night. Usual issues with spiders, wind fog and rain triggering all motion and dozens of email clips to go through in such conditions. Sadly the intelligent person/vehicle recognition isn't so good in infra-red, also the exposure is overblown too in "night mode". This is the Reolink camera's weakness - other cameras have 2 sets of settings for night mode, e.g. different exposures. You can change the sensitivity at night which might help, but you then of course risk missing real activities, so its a bit hit and miss getting this right. Personally I set it to high sensitivity and just go through all the clips filling my email account on stormy nights!

How do I delete stuff from SD card or will the camera do that automatically? |
2022-10-17 |
The camera records in a loop - when there is no more space on the card it overwrites the oldest recordings.

The camera will automatically write over the oldest recordings on a rolling basis to make space for the newest. Alternatively you can format the memory card at any time to delete all of the recordings. I don’t use the NVR and only use the app, so not sure if relevant. |

Hello. Reolink PoE Camera Outdoor does not support deleting certain video footage that stored on the Micro SD card via Reolink software. If you want to delete the clips, you need to take out the Micro SD card to delete them on the computer. If you don't want to take out the Micro SD card, the camera will automatically overwrite the old files when the SD card is at capacity and then continue to record. |

2023-04-16 |
This camera has no wireless capability. It needs to be connected by an ethernet cable to transfer data to an external recording device, such as a NAS (Network Attached Storage) or other dedicated recording device. Without the NAS the only means of storing recordings is by an SD card mounted on the camera itself. It might be possible to configure a PC to handle the recordings and subsequently upload those recordings to a cloud account, but you'd have to figure that out for yourself - it's not a built in feature. |

You can use the Reolink app on a PC to view the camera over ethernet. The camera will still need to be powered by a separate power unit or a PoE injector, of which Amazon sells a variety. I'm not sure how you can make recordings on your PC. The NVR supplies power and records. A NAS device, like the Synology, can also do continuous recording using their Surveillance Station app, but it does not feed power to the camera so you will need to provide that as suggested above. Reolink have some useful support documents on their website which may help. |

Assuming you connect it via the Ethernet cable to your LAN, you can view the Camera output with a web browser, but this will not record the output which is what an NVR can also do. If you install a micro SD card in the camera you can record to it and view recordings with the web Browser, but if the camera is stollen you lose the recordings with it. |

A ethernet connect from a powerline should work fine but you will need to power the camera using either a POE injector or using a power adapter plugged in to it (not sure of the voltage but likely to be 12v) as this camera is normally powered by POE from a POE switch. |

Hello. If you want to use only one network cable, the powerline adapter must also support PoE function. Only if it supports PoE function, the camera can get power and transmit data through a network cable. Otherwise, the camera needs to be powered additionally. No you cant. It gets its power down the ethernet cable and so you need a device in the path that supplies the power. If you hve only one camera you could use https://www.amazon.co.uk/TP-LINK-TL-PoE150S-Injector-Adapter-Compliant-Black/dp/B001PS9E5I/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=PoE+Injector&qid=1678361047&sr=8-3 which is what I use. 2023-03-09 |
No. Power needs to added to the ether net cable via a PoE hub, or an "injector". Also, to connect two devices directly without a port or router you need to use an ethernet crossover cable (or crossover adapter). It might be possible to use a power injector and an ethernet cross over cable. |

2023-03-09 |
Yes that should work, but you are going to have to change the laptop IP number to the same network range as the default IP number in the camera using the Reolink software. Once you have done that, you can use the software to change the camera to a static IP in the preferred range that you want. Its all a lot easier if the camera is plugged into a router though. That's what I do. Just plug all the cameras into a router in the loft, and then access the cams from a computer. Hope this helps. |

Does this record continuously or can it be set to only record when there is motion? If so, can it start to record a few secs before motion? Thanks. |

It starts a few seconds before motion and also after I think. You can set it all up in the NVR as that what I have... |

Hello. This 4K IP PoE Camera Outdoor supports both continuous recording and motion detection recording. The pre-record duration will last 4-8 secs according to the capacity of the SD card. |

It can record continuously or for motion, Person, Vehicle or Pet detection, and it can record both pre and post motion. Be aware that Motion means any change to the picture so branches moving or change of lighting caused by clouds etc. will trigger motion. |
