Will this pick up a license plate of cars? |
2022-08-26 |
It certainly can do, but depends on all sorts of factors - light, distance, viewing angle and so on. Mine will pick up a number plate some 30 meters away, if the lighting is favourable. Especially if you use the zoom option. |

Depending upon the distance it will you can zoom into a specific area when setting it up
Then do a zoom on the image when looking
Yes but the distance is the critical thing. As distance to the plate is unknown the answer is not a clear cut yes / no |

It depends how far and the angle that the cctv is placed; but I would say yes it will as mine is facing a public car park where I keep my car overnight. |

Hello. It depends on the situation: In the daytime, if the car is close to this 5MP PoE security camera, not moving too fast and within the camera's visual distance, the camera can see the license plate; at night, the license plate will turn into a white sequin or the license plate is overexposed in infrared mode due to the reflective materials of the license plate. If you want to see the license plate clearly, the camera cannot turn on the infrared light, the usual practice is to install supplementary lights in other locations and force the camera into day mode. |

Is it possible to enable constant recording to the sd card? |
2022-09-06 |
Yes. Alarm, timer or none over 24/7 timer range. It's quite versatile but you'll soon loop over old footage even with a larger card. If you have FTP upload, you'll be fine with a large drive in your NAS |

It doe not record more than 7 days, or the capacity of the SD; than it gets deleted. You can save what you need on your phone via the app. |

Hello. Yes, this 5MP PoE camera supports 24/7 continuous recording. You may enable the overwrite function via Reolink software, then the camera will keep recording new videos and overwriting the old videos when the SD card is full. |

What's the recommended brand of micro Sd card to use with this? |
2021-03-26 |
Most well known brands will work; up to 64gb, I think. If you want to play it safe, a few brands do 'endurance' type cards for extreme temps and environments |

I wouldnt call it "night vision" though, but yes it does work in the dark like most cctv cameras do.
But night quality isnt great, like most cameras really, |

What are the advantages of using ethernet as power? isn't it better to get a camera with wifi and usual uk plug? |
2021-02-05 |
If you've got ethernet, use it! Wi-Fi is always slower and when I was looking at cameras, the Wi-Fi versions had lower resolution pictures and weren't as good as the ethernet versions. You might also find you are sharing serval other devices such as your phone with the same Wi-Fi access point, that will slow things down further. |

2021-02-05 |
There are two advantages:
1) A hard-wired ethernet cable will normally be much more reliable than a WiFi signal
2) You don't need to have a mains socket close to the camera |

They are both as good for quality of image and control
SO it depended on your specific location. The things to think about are
IF you have 240v power by the camera then a WI-FI will allow the camera to be placed “close” to the power. The low power cable supplied will give you the rough length from the power to the camera .
If no power is available at the camera location a cable needs to be run to it. A etha net cable is small and can be installed by yourself . The 240V to the camera outside needs care and attention for the install and is likely to need an electricians help.
Both need a connection to your router. Either wireless or in the case of the POE via a POE switch / which is extra..
It all comes down to the distance from 240 power, to the camera.
I have 2 POE and one WiFi camera and cannot tell the difference in performance.

Hi, POE cameras are generally used in scenarios where there is no wifi network and are usually choosed in pursuit of network stability and long-distance connection |

If it's a poe camera you don't need an additional power supply the power it's in the Ethernet table |

Hi, PoE cameras support both DC12V power supply and PoE power supply. There are two methods to connect the PoE cameras to the network.
Method 1. Power the PoE camera via a DC12V power adapter, then connect the cameras to the LAN port of the router by an Ethernet cable directly.
Method 2. Power the PoE camera a PoE switch/injector, then connect the PoE switch/injector to the LAN port of the router by an Ethernet cable. |
