How do we power this with just dc power ? no peo switch or injector? cant we just use dc power ? and connect it with wifi. i am getting only red light |

I don't know what the voltage/amperage/connector is compatible, but you should be able to find this info on their website.
But you can definitely provide power via external power brick. I don't know what the red light means but I would guess you don't have the proper voltage/amperage. |

The Poe camera requires an injector on the Ethernet cable to power the camera. Alternatively use an Ethernet switch that includes a Poe capability then just connect the camera to it. |

Yes you can buy a adapter for each camera but it’s cheaper to buy a POE switch and less work. A POE is only $50 for a 5 port |

Hello. This 4K PoE camera can be powered by just a 12V DC adapter, but it's a PoE camera that does not support wifi connection. Please connect it to the adapter and also connect it to the router with an ethernet cable for use. Specs say operating temperature -10C. Will it work in colder temp at -20C and lower? |
2022-06-12 |
Hello. When the temperature is lower than -10 ℃, the camera may fail to power on when it is that cold, but if the camera is already up and running, it will emit some heat to keep it working. When the camera itself is cold, you could take the camera into the warm room, power to the camera, and run it for half an hour, then take it outside. Then the cameras may work again. |

Hello, will a 128 Gb SD card be good enough for average use ? ( motion detection ) ? |
2022-09-15 |
The number of days you can go back to view past video recordings will depend on what resolution you set the camera recording settings to and if you are recording everything or just motion events. Try the 128GB card and if it doesn't satisfy your needs then decrease the resolution in the settings or it is very easy to replace with a larger card. You can adjust the settings in the phone app or by going to the IP address of the camera in a web browser. (you can get the IP address of the camera easily from the phone app. |

Hello, will a 128 Gb SD card be good enough for average use ? ( motion detection ) ? |

Yes. But will reduce the number of days the storage holds the videos. Videos are stored until the card becomes full. Once it is fu,ll,it just overwrites the previous videos. |

Hello, will a 128 Gb SD card be good enough for average use ? ( motion detection ) ? |
2022-09-15 |
Most likely the answer is Yes, but It depends on a couple of factors:
1. What resolution you save the video at. You should choose the highest resolution.
2. How many motions will be detected.
3. How long you want to save them for.
You can set the camera to overwrite old videos, so the card will never get full, but if you want to retain them, you'll have to download them.
Hope this helps!
1 minute of video at the highest resolution will be about 33MB of storage.
128GB would be able to store 3,800 minutes of video, or 2.63 days. |

Hello. Yes, 128Gb is also enough for detection recording. To have a better function, please choose an sd card with the format of FAT32 and read and write speed of Class 10 or higher/ ≥26Mbps. Under the default setting, a 128GB sd card can save 48.5h recording videos. |

128Gb is lots of storage space if you are using motion detection. In addition to the size of the memory card you need to consider the speed of the card. Reolink's support site says:
Read and Write Speed: Class 10 or higher/ ≥ 26Mbps

All the connectors go through the base (the plate in the picture with the holes). That base is screwed into whatever surface you are mounting the camera to. You should have a hole underneath that base, where you are feeding power and ethernet lines (or just the ethernet line if you have it connected to a POE (Power Over Ethernet) switch. No box required.
If, for some reason, you cannot run the wiring through the mounting surface, Reolink gives you a device that waterproofs the ethernet connector. |

So are all the saved video clips from this camera sent to your pc you have it plugged into? or just on the sd card? |
2023-05-19 |
Unless you install and instruct the PC application to do so, the camera will only store about 2 days worth of data (on a 128GB SD card), and then starts deleting the oldest videos.
Install the Reolink client on your PC (and your phone if you want). The app will then allow you to do a bunch of things.
You can use the app to download videos stored on the SD card. You can use the app to send you 1 minute chunks of videos when an event is triggered. You can use the app to set up time-lapsed videos.
What I do is have the app set each camera to send me alerts when it detects motion, and it sends a 1 minute video. I also have it the app automatically download everything the cameras capture in high (clear) quality. This is because when you use playback option to see what happened in the past, the SD card will only save about 2 days of video.
If you do this, you will need a lot of hard drive space!!! I burn about 250GB per day storing images from 4 cameras. I keep a months' worth on an 8TB drive. I usually delete a weeks worth of old video at a time.
Hope this helps, and while far from perfect, the app is getting easier to understand. Just remember that Clear = High quality, Balanced = Middle quality and Fluent = Low quality. It's just as bad as Starbucks' cup size names!

Unfortunately no. The Bell Home Hub has network (Ethernet) ports but they will not supply the power needed for this (or any) Power-Over-Ethernet PoE product like this. Then plus a cable from your Bell Home Hub to the PoE Injector, and then a cable from the injector to your Reolink camera. Done. |

It’s PoE (power over Ethernet). So you’d need to connect it to a PoE network switch port or use a PoE injector (basically adds power to an Ethernet data cable). PoE switch is better as you’d only need to supply power to the switch. |

Does reolink have any caneras rated to start to at least -20 Celsius? |
2023-04-03 |
I installed four POE RLC-811A cameras outside my house. I have had them for one winter. Up here in Southern Alberta Canada. They worked great for me in all sorts of weather, including wind storms/snow storms gusting to 90km/hr, blizzards with -39 Celsius.
I had zero shutdowns in some real nasty winter storms. I haven’t seen a ton of rain, but the amount we’ve received, I’ve had zero problems.
Just remember not to ever turn them off in real cold weather. The heat from the camera keeps it operating properly and from freezing.
Our climate is fairly dry, so I don’t know how they handle humidity, I’ve seen reports of them fogging in humid areas like Florida.
They attract a lot of bugs, due to the infra red lights for the night vision. Something to keep in mind for the summer months. A lot of false alert recordings.
I’m confident they would be fine in -40 Celsius. Make sure to weather proof the cable connections. I used junction boxes to house the connections.
There is a big flaw though. If you mount the camera against a hard flat surface, it’s impossible to adjust the camera angle. When you loosen the adjustment screw, it pushes out a bracket towards the wall, if the wall is unyielding, the screw will easily strip out because it’s trying to push a bracket out that won’t move against the hard surface. The steel adjustment screw, threads into a softer metal.
To resolve this I used an O’ring, square is best, to make a gap that gives the adjustment mechanism room to move towards the hard surface.
I mounted my cameras onto generic round white junction boxes from Amazon. I needed to drill my own holes into the bracket though. Make sure to pick up some good long solid screws for mounting the bracket to the siding or which ever surface you’re working with.
All my cable connections are stored in junction boxes
The adjustment screw is a big problem so be real careful not to strip it out. I did see some cameras have a twist collar rather than a screw, maybe that fixes the problem, I’m not sure.
I also own a couple duo 2 cams, they have held up great in the winter as well. They’re good for general wide angle surveillance, with decent video quality. The 811A is great for close up monitoring, as you can adjust for a close up focus for recording. It’s definitely not inconspicuous, it’s quite noticeable.
Good luck.

That length sounds about right. It's good for testing and setup, but you're going to have to buy your own cable when you install it in it's final destination. If it's outdoors, you may have to buy a tougher cable.
I'm experimenting with 50' lengths of flat Cat6 cable: https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B00WD017GQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I am using it to connect a camera that is outdoors to an unheated garage, and so far it is working fine. About 15' is exposed to the outdoors. It's been running since last August, and has survived a direct hit from a hurricane (Fiona) and an extreme deep freeze (-47c) and regular temperature fluctuations from +11c to -12c in a 24 hour period.
(Yes, this has been a very strange weather year!)
I have also bought a 100' length but I haven't tried it yet.
