| Will the adapter work with a Samsung S22 Galaxy Ultra phone? | 2023-06-18 | I can not say with 100% certainty but the short answer is "probably but with VERY disappointing performance" The phone is large and heavy and will be difficult to align. If you are using your telephoto camera - the most logical choice to see far - the extra magnification will overwhelm the image stabilization in the phone so the pictures will be very blurry. Anything but bright targets under noon-day sun will be very challenging. These binoculars are not 50mm lenses as claimed in the listing, so the actual apertures of 36 or 37mm do not gather enough light to be useful for the phone's camera. A good spotting scope on a tripod is the only setup that has given me good results with a phone camera. The problem is not so much these binoculars and/or your phone, but more a problem of the whole idea in general. They are not actually 50mm lenses, so low light performance is limited by their measured 36mm aperture. The narrow field of view makes hand holding a challenge, but I assume that if you shoot at a 300 meter range, you have very steady hands. They are good for the price, but you would probably wise to spend a little more money to get a slightly better optical performer. If you want compact size (these are the size of 12x42 binoculars when you allow for the misrepresented 50mm claim) a Bushnell or Tasco 12x42 would be a good choice. If you can live with larger Porro Prism designs, the Pentax or Nikon 12x50 would be both clearer and noticeably brighter in low light. | Ken | 2023-04-08 |
