That part reminds me of the old Sony W08L headphones. I can barely notice that part after a few minutes inside of my ears.Unfortunate, the outer part of my ears become sore after about an hour. The loop portion is just slightly too small/short for my ears and it presses firmly against antihelix cartilage of my ear. But they're good enough for me to keep them in my pocket for work calls or a short stroll with music.Side note, it appears that Anker just took the Soul OpenEar S-Clip (released late last year) and remade it. The overall form and fit are similar, but the materials used here seem better in my opinion. The sound that they produce are also quite different. This is not a review of the S-Clip, but the short is that I personally prefer the c30i... but if you're looking for something cheaper, you can sometimes find the S-Clip for half the price of the c30i. However, with the S-Clip, you get zero customization.I'd imagine that we'll have better and cheaper options of this style by the end of the year. By default this means music stops or the track advances.In the SoundCore app, I disabled the double and triple tap functions, but every time the earbud touched, there is a subtle tone. I checked again and found out you can completely disable the touch functions.I believe that the touch function is far too sensitive. A better design would be to put the touch function on the front or side of the earbud.I really like the fit and sound quality of these earbuds, but it is annoying to lose out on the audio controls b/c of the touch design.Too early to tell what battery life is going to be like. I'm hoping to get at least 4 hours of music. I had hoped that the Soundcore C30i would fit my needs. Unfortunately, they just don't do it for me.I found these buds to be comfortable enough. After two hours of wear the buds were not hurting my ears. They also stayed put during a light workout. The problem with the fit is that they are just too rigid to get a good fit. My ears are on the larger size. I could not get the sound port close enough to my ear canal to get decent volume. I had the sound on max and still wanted more. If I put my fingers behind my ears and flexed them forward slightly the volume increased drastically. Sadly, I can't walk around constantly pushing my ears forward.Sound quality is decent for open earbuds. I found the mid and high ranges to be clear and distinct with good separation. Bass is lacking but that is to be expected with open earbuds. The app does not have an equalizer or any type of bass boost to help balance the sound stage. Voices are very clear and the call quality is very good.The touch controls are problematic. I had no end of trouble hitting the right spot to trigger a function. It would help if there was some type of identifier to let you know when you are at the touch point. Even better an actual button would eliminate the problem. You can change the touch functions in the app. Note that there is no single-tab functions. I did change the tab/hold to volume up/down. Still hitting the right spot on the first try is hit or miss.The app is very basic. As noted there is no EQ or sound quality control. You can turn on Surround Sound but I did not notice much of a difference.The Soundcore C30i would be good for someone who has smaller ears ( Soundcore does provide sleeves to get a good fit) and is willing to put up with the touch control issues. These still would’ve been exactly what I was looking for if not for the poor design choices. These were uncomfortably TIGHT no matter how I had them on my ears (I even watched Anker’s 30 second video on how to wear them). Worst of all, the shell is made of hard plastic that offers ZERO flexibility. What is offered for flexibility are two pairs of clip on ear grips for an even tighter fit that happens to be made of… more hard plastic. Circled in my photo is an actual indentation after having them clipped to my ears for about an hour. I really wanted these to work, I even tried to wear them throughout the week but they just turned out to be downright painful at times.TLDR: For this type of design to work, it should offer adjustments for a tighter AND looser fit. As it stands, these will only fit ears of a certain size and shape.
