When the feedermoves slightly in the breeze the camera begins recording even on thelowest setting. To counteract the camera sensitivity problem, I mountedthe feeder stationary on a PVC pipe by using Gorilla glue to fasten aPVC coupling to the bottom of the feeder tray. A PVC pipe was driveninto the ground, keeping it as close to perfectly vertical as possible.After the feeder was filled with nectar and turned upright, the PVCcoupler was slipped over the vertical pipe, mounting the feeder in astationary position. The feeder was removed from the pipe for cleaningand refilling. That solution created a new problem. The pipe had to beperfectly vertical or the feeder would tilt slightly from level (due tothe very shallow nectar tray) and drip until it was drained empty. Mysolution for an imperfect, but usable, installation was to go back tohanging the feeder and enabling the camera on windless days to preventmovement.Needed improvements:1) The feeder bowl is very shallow and needs to be deepened to fix theleakage problem, even if mounted to a slightly misaligned pole.2) An optional coupler should be molded or mounted to the bottom of theplastic feeder tray to allow pole mounting of the feeder to eliminatethe movement problem.3) Revise the circuitry or software to reduce camera motion sensitivity.The optics on this feeder are absolutely amazing. However, the design flaws prohibit enjoyment immensely.
