This lasted 1.5 years and now won't charge. Charging cable simply won't charge it even perfectly clean and manually held tight on device. It's always had a very poorly designed charging system... Should of lasted longer than this! Even Fi collars last longer. You can't reach customer service, when you need them. No telephone number. |
Update: I heard back from Tractive and they have been very helpful, they are sending me a new style charger and also a pouch to hold the tracker on the collar as a plastic tab broke so I've been using a zip tie to ensure it doesn't fall off the collar. So I've updated my rating due to their good customer service. This lasted 1.5 years and now won't charge. Charging cable simply won't charge it even perfectly clean and manually held tight on device. So the concept is great and from a hardware perspective r it does what it says it will do.The problem is the software…You tell it what your home wifi router name is so it knows that your tracker is home. While it is within range of the wifi it turns off the gps to save on battery. Sounds great, right? The problem is that my wifi reaches three houses away so my dog is a third of the way to the main road before it is out of range then there is a delay before the gps kicks in. It could be 10-15 minutes before it realizes my dog has left the property. You CANNOT turn the gps on remotely, you have to wait for it to recognize that it is out of range of your wifi. The other part the software fails is the light and sound feature. It allows you turn a tiny little LED light on or a high pitched sound on the tracker. It freaks the dog out to hear the sounds so I worked on training her to get a treat when she hears the sound. I figured if I can train her to come back for a treat with the sound then it will be great to get her to come home…. NOPE, the sound can only be triggered by Bluetooth so it only works when they are within 45’ or so.Fix these two major faults and this thing could be great. |

They remotely decreased the amount of time between checkins so that I would get alerts sooner if my dog leaves the property. That’s a little bit better… |
