We had issues connecting to the wifi and after several attempts brought the unit in the same room as our router. The app isn't the easiest to use and I wish was a bit more US friendly, since it's selling here in this market... We will probably always use it plugged in with the cord - but this feeder does NOT come with the proprietary battery!?! It has one big compartment that it splits into two separate chambers. I'm still not sure what the purpose of this is since it all dumps into the same main bowl and both sides are equal volume. The biggest issue with this feeder however is that it dumps out a very very small portion of food at any given time. I suppose if you were dispensing bird seed it would be okay, but for most dog or cat food, it's just not enough. Each serving is like a little more than a table spoon, so for my small dog, I have to literally have it dispense 4 servings per side to equal the typical cup of food that she typically gets. It's almost painful to watch the food fall out in 8 rotations as the food is gone before the next one dumps out and this is while using blue buffalo small kibble which is roughly the size of a single pea. At the very least, they should have made side 1 and side 2 different sizes so that you had a choice to pick a bigger portion. That all being said, it does work and it's convenient to have in case of emergencies but i wouldn't use this on a daily basis. Lastly, the initial cleaning process is a pain as well. You are literally supposed to disassemble the entire unit wash and dry everything at the component level and then reassemble before each use. Since the instructions in the tiny pamphlet are so small, this may be a little tough for some people. The makes of this really thought of everything I would need to automate the feeding of my cat for us to be away for an extended period of time. It holds enough food that I think it could go for over a month without refilling (my cat doesn’t eat a lot anymore), and it comes apart easily so that you can clean any part of it you need to. I like that I can do specific portions of left verses right or push the button to feed manually.It’s nearly perfect, but this is why I can only give it 3 stars. It’s supposed to come with a battery to insert to backup the power, this was missing in my package. I contacted support and was never responded to. This means that the specific reason I bought it (to help us take automate taking care of our cat while we travel) is still at risk because if there is a power outage and the machine doesn’t keep operating, the cat doesn’t get fed.
