I knew the sound quality would not be top-tier based on the purpose of these headphones, but it is so bad I cannot believe $179 gets me this poor sound quality. It is so hard to tell if I got a bad pair or these are just that terrible. UPDATE: 1 to 3 stars. New pair is much better. Sound quality is still bad, but not nearly as bad as before. No volume issues so far. Wish these were adjustable for my head as they are all one size and that is too big (and I have a big head).I do not know if I just received a bad pair or if these are just that bad, but a $14 pair sound better than these. Absolutely terrible headphones. 2024-06-28 10:02:31 2024-07-16 04:45:58
us SHOKZ B09BW1QVVT R3FJM4NX1P6SKV Verified Purchase CARL MANKINEN 2024-07-02 2.0 5.0 They work great, until they don't... after only a couple months. 5.0 out of 5 stars This wasn't my first pair, but likely will be my last. My first pair was the OpenRun mini which I found out was just too small for my head but I wore them regardless for 2 years. They worked great until they fell when I got them tangled up in my Oakley juliets in a parking lot and went flying directly into the path of a car that immediately rolled over them. I can confirm the mini's will not hold up to being run over by a toyota. So I quickly bought a second pair, this time a Shokz OpenRun. Finally they fit well without having the bone transducers in the wrong position. These were working fine and then all of a sudden only the volume down button would make any sort of sound. Vol+ and the function button appear dead. Power light flashes red/blue and they are no longer paired. I tried pressing and hold all three buttons which is supposed to reset them to factory default and it has no effect. They didn't last even three months!I didn't use these for working out or in the water, they were used mainly for listening to podcasts and for phone calls. The microphone is very sensitive I am told.I liked the fact I didn't need to charge these all day, and I could put them on charge while showering at night and by the time I was done they would be back to a high battery charge state.I filed a claim online with Shokz a week ago and was told they would respond in a few days. No response from Shokz other than an automated email. Their form asks for an order number and won't accept the full length of my order # here at Amazon. Since I also have an Assurion plan for tech gear, I decided to stop waiting for a human to respond at Shokz and processed my claim at Assurion. It's my first claim, so I was prepared to be even more dissappointed. Instead, to my surprise, Assurion processed all the details and issued me a return label in minutes. All I have to do is drop the box by the UPS store and I get refunded for my purchase. After some research, I am switching to a Mojawa Run Plus. I got them for about the same price and they are also IP68 rated which exceeds the OpenRun, so I might give them a try in the shower! The only thing I haven't been able to determine is how the Mojawa is charged. I am hoping it isn't using some USB-C connector with pins to break. I like the magnetic attachment method with the OpenRun it's too bad the headphones themselves didn't last. This wasn't my first pair, but likely will be my last. Unfortunately the Mojawa are definitely not as good for me as the OpenRun are. The Mojawa has a metallic ringing sound that is very loud in the right ear and the volume at the lowest setting is far too loud. I like using the OpenRun at night to listen to podcasts while going to sleep and one of the things I guess I take for granted is the sound quality of the OpenRun at a near whisper sound level. 2024-07-04 05:23:56 2024-07-11 13:13:04

So, I like them...except...(updated) I've been using these for about 6 months, and they get hours of use every single day. I use them on my computer when gaming, use them so watching videos on my phone don't bother my partner, and I also use them when I work out or go on walks.Compared to the other Shokz products that are bone-conduction, I would say the sound quality is certainly a bit better, though not quite at the level of a nicer, traditional headphone. Frankly, I don't mind that at all. Plus they are extremely comfortable. Maybe not quite as much as the OpenRun Pros, but still way more comfortable than ear buds for me.Here is my big problem. After 6 months of use, the bass had blown out on them pretty badly. Anytime I am listening to something with a decent amount of bass (even someone with a deep speaking voice) then suddenly my sound is tinny and pretty awful. I don't know if it is the hours of use every day or sweat from working out (they are supposed to be sweat resistant), but it is clear to me they are reaching the end of their life.If this issue was coming up after a couple years, which is the life I got out of my original pair of base-level, cheap Shokz (back when they were called Aftershockz). But I paid nearly $200 (after tax) for these, and I'm only getting half a year out of them!? I get that they don't make stuff last like they used to, but if an expensive pair of headphones can't even give me a year of solid use, then frankly that is a pretty big mark against them. Update: While my following concerns stand, customer service was incredible helpful. After contacting them they got me a replacement set quickly, and were extremely quick and professional. If I have any problems with the replacement pair, I'll update again, but for now, here's hoping the issues with the last pair were a fluke.I've been using these for about 6 months, and they get hours of use every single day. And the case doesn’t charge if the headphones aren’t in them. Don’t buy these They work super great at first but now the continuously disconnecting they don’t hold a charge each head phone last maybe 2 hours on continuous use. And the case doesn’t charge if the headphones aren’t in them. Don’t buy these...So this is an updated review. I returned these headphones and bought the $300 Bose ultra open ear headphones and those were. Total rip off. These headphones are actually better than those. So I ended up buying a not her pair. It must have been a faulty set or something because these work way better than the first set.DEFINITELY WORTH THE MONEY YOU SHOULD GET THEM they work pretty well I can get 4-5 hours on continuous use per headphone the sound quality is significantly better and the battery! 2024-06-17 02:14:25 2024-07-31 15:03:17
