If you are simply sitting in a quieter office using these, that wouldn't be that big of an issue, but I'd imagine if you are using these in a noisier environment, that couple pose more issues.The bass seems lacking. I listen to metal and although bass isn't the focal point of metal, it really helps drive it. This was a major let down. I wasn't expecting booming bass, but it feels and sounds just a tab bassier than ...And Justice For All (for those that understand that comparison).Overall: For $10 they are decent. I'd honestly rather spend the $3-5 more for the Skullcandy ink'd, but they are becoming more and more difficult to find. I base this on a cheap pair of Panasonic’s I had years ago and the cord was similar and if my memory serves me correctly, the sound went out on the left side in less than six months and this was with light use -no exercising or constant erratic movements. Since the cord is the same on these Sony’s, I would have low expectations on the reliability of them in the long term.The sound; there is no way the low’s on these reach down to 8hz. No way at all. They don’t even sound like they go down to 20. Like I said above, the highs are crystal clear, the mids are passable (not the greatest but passable) but the bass across several genres seems non-existent and flat. Also, I’m not sure about what type of impedence (ohms) rating these have, but to get any sort of decent volume out of them with my iphone using a lightning adapter, I have to turn the volume up to 80%This is honestly to me unacceptable. With any other headphones I have used 40-50% volume is usually sufficient. 60 to 70% is starting to get loud with my JVC’s. But the kicker with these Sony’s is you have to turn them up so loud just to hear them and then it’s almost like they begin to distort. So, I don’t know what type or size magnets they are using but they aren’t very efficient in my opinion. I used Sony over the ear headphones back in the 90’s that came standard with a cassette walkman or Discman that sounded better than these.Now I bought them on sale for $7.50 which Amazon says is half off (meaning they are normally $14.99 -can I just be honest? These are not even worth $5. I’ll admit when I bought them I wasn’t expecting much considering their price, but from a brand like Sony it’s almost like their just pumping out cheap quality stuff and hoping to ride on their reputation from long ago. These do not represent Sony quality most have come to expect and my suggestion would be to pay a little more ($25 range) to get something far better.
