That said, I’ve spent over $100 in addition to the feeder trying to keep squirrels from cleaning out the feeder in one sitting. The siren/mic has zero effect - they don’t even flinch. The open tray is problematic and allows squirrels to feast freely. Comes with a tree strap but strapping the feeder to a tree just allows easier access for squirrels. I love squirrels but can’t afford to buy birdseed twice a week so it’s definitely put a damper on the whole experience. One more issue is the app can be very glitchy. Often closes out randomly and then my phone goes haywire and has to be restarted. If I’m away from home I don’t open the app because I don’t know how long I’ll lose access to my phone if it glitches. It seems durable, was easy to install. However, this is where it goes bad. The software required by NetVue. 1) you must purchase/upgrade to do any special functions offered on the app. This includes determining notification/detection of humans walking by or any other movement. Okay - after frequent notifications (the camera has great peripheral view), I tried to purchase the upgrade. Navigating the online website and the smartphone app have proved useless, as well as customer service with bot responses. I have notified NetVue.
