If you drop one of these TINY screws in the grass or mulch, good luck finding it. They could have used magnets to keep it closed, a screw with a thumb grip on it, Velcro, plastic hinges - ANYTHING but screws....It really is a shame. Such a great design with the solar panels built into the roof, the overall great look of it, the great camera... But the screws on top for the seed compartment ruins everything for me.... It takes this from an easy 5 star rating to a 2 star. The lid is screwed down as is the slot for adding more bird food, keeping squirrels and crows out of the feed (downside you will need a screwdriver to add more seed). The camera has good image quality, and the built-in solar panel is having no problem keeping the camera charged 24/7 in June. The camera can be swiveled up and down so you can decide what you want the camera looking at. As it is, the hardware is 5 stars. Sadly, that's not the whole story.First, let's start with the mounting system. It uses an L bracket with 2 screw holes to attach it to a wall or other item (or you can use a nylon strap that they include to wrap around a tree). This is one of the main flaws on the unit. The bird feeder mounts on the very end of the L-Bracket (The back of the bird feeder is 2" from the L bracket), and because the bracket isn't very strong, any time it gets windy the whole bird feeder bounces up and down, triggering motion alerts. After a multiple tries, I finally go the sensitivity set to the lowest settings on the camera, but still any time it gets windy I get inundated with notifications (but no birds). I have another camera bird feeder mounted at the same location and it doesn't have this problem because the mount is more sturdy.The other big issue is the app that you have to use with this. It is called Bird Lover, and it is a modified Tuya/SmartLife app. I have no problem with the normal SmartLife app on my Android phone (use it with a different brand of bird feeder), but this modified version is horrible. It currently sits at 2.4 stars on the Play Store. Trying to change many settings will often freeze the app or cause it to pause for 20+ seconds before giving an error. So changing something like the camera sensitivity requires you to try, force close the app, try again, over and over until it finally works. They also make it really hard to view videos saved to the SD card, instead trying to get you pay a monthly fee to access your recordings on their cloud. It is possible to view those saved videos on the SD card, but it isn't easy to figure out how.I tried using the standard SmartLife app with this camera, since it works great with my other bird feeder, however they've modified the camera in some way so it will only work with the buggy Bird Lover app. I am not able to test the iOS version of the app, but I would suggest you check out the reviews for it on iOS before buying this bird feeder.I would have given this a full 5 stars if I could use the generic SmartLife app, but because their customized version is so buggy and missing basic features (recording and viewing video off the SD card), I have to give this a 3.
