The tray is too shallow to be considered a bowl and from what I assume is to aid in cleaning, the tray only loosely attaches to the base of the unit. As a result, our dog, just in the process of eating detaches the tray every time. This allows the food and tray to scatter across the room leaving the tray out of position for the next cycle.By the second day of use, I built a shelf for the unit, minus the tray to sit on. The unit on the shelf is positioned to sit above the dog’s regular feeding bowl.
