Then I set the camera to on and left it for a week. The picture posted is the clearest picture I was able to retrieve. All the other photos and video were greyed out. I spent two hours trying to recover the data to no avail. Perhaps I didn't retrieve the data properly? I read through the manual again to set the camera up, and placed it back at the main trailhead.Second attempt:After a week, I went to retrieve the SD cards. This time, I took the camera down and brought it back to the cabin so I could plug it directly to my computer and retrieve the photos that way. The older camera had indeed captured some activity, but the GardePro camera didn't capture anything at all. Save for the few photos of me checking the motion capture, the SD card was empty. I reread the user manual and walked myself through setup again to make sure I'd done everything correctly. (I had) But perhaps I was wrong about which trail was being used? Maybe it didn't see anything because there wasn't aynthing to see? So I switched the cameras, this time setting the GardePro camera on the lesser side trail. Adjusted for motion capture, made sure everything was good to go and left.Third attempt:After 5 days I was back out to the property to check the cards. The older camera, which had been monitoring what I still thought of as the main trail head, has lots of photos! Opossum, otter, beaver and that weird coyote dog the neighbor said she saw. I wasn't wrong about the activity level at the main trail head. There really *were* a lot of visitors. I checked the GardePro camera on the smaller trail but once again the SD card was empty. The GardePro took no additional photos or video. But, was it possible that the lack of pictures was because I'd set it on an unused trail? I had proof that the main trail was being used a lot. So if I set the GardePro camera back on the main trail head (and it works) it should record something almost every night. I RE-reread the manual. RE-reset to factory settings, RE-reformatted the SD card. And even thought the camera turned on ok, and the indicator icon on screen said that the batteries were full, I put in fresh batteries just to be sure. When I set it back on the main trail, I focused the camera where I knew there would be movement to capture. I checked for motion capture and made sure everything worked fine before I left.Results:After a week, I returned to the trailhead to find it is a mess of scent piles, and piled up twigs/leaves. The soil on either side of the trail is freshly tamped down. If the GardePro camera works as it should, it should have captured something. But once more, the SD card was empty. The GardePro camera didn't capture anything -even though the physical evidence shows a significant amount of activity took place 8 ft in front of the lens.I have exhausted my troubleshooting resources. This GardePro camera just doesn't work.Now I've just returned from the property to discover that it is one month and ONE DAY after purchase and I can no longer return this item. The claims they make on the Amazon web page, with respect to image sizes, should be interpreted as the maximum file size the camera will generate using interpolation. This can be done arbitrarily, and they are doing this almost arbitrarily, and encouraging the potential buyer who does not know any better to assume that a bigger number like 32 megapixel corresponds to a more detailed image. This is decidedly not an honest business practice, which is why I will never again consider buying one of their products.
