Works well, easy to set up but a bit confusing to operate |
This camera was easy to install, both physically, and on my phone via the app and connected quickly. The pictures (it has 2 cameras and a split screen on the phone) are clear and the nighvision works well. It has some trouble identifying the human detection and will go off 29 times a day alerting a person is triggering the camera when it is a cat walking into frame for example. I have no issues with the sound quality as far as hearing people or being heard when communicating with the two way audio feature, however the alarm is a bit disappointing in that it is not very loud at all and I doubt if it could be heard well at all by anyone other than the person triggering the camera but even they would likely ignore it if they were an intruder because they would know that it wouldn't really be heard my anyone else. The lights are bright enough to see well at night on the camera, and overall it was a decent value for the money. My chief complaint is that it is somewhat confusing to operate because the manual vs the instructions online through the website and the app and the app on the phone itself all contradict themselves and some of the instructions dont even appear to go to this camera model at all. There are features we have somehow turned on and cannot figure out how to turn off, and eventually they seem to get turned off after multiple attempts to figure them out, or we have just worked around them. This is not my first security camera so I am not ignorant to how they operate completely, yet I have had some trouble with operating this one properly. For example the camera will get triggered at 4 am by say a cat, and will start recording and will record continuously for 15 hours and rapidly fill my memory but despite trying to change these settings many times it continued. Eventually it got fixed when I had to play around to try to fix another wonky setting but since the setup and usage instructions are unclear and counterintuitive, I have no idea how I actually corrected this. I would really love for the use of the camera to be as easy and seamless as the connectivity but it is not. I am using the camera and it is doing a good job but I cannot say that it is easy to use. I wouldnt recommend this for someone with very basic knowledge or even average knowledge and experience because you are unable to get clear guidance or even directions sometimes that don't belong to some other system so it becomes incredibly frustrating and bothersome. That being said, if you already have a great working knowledge of all things security camera related, this might be great for you as the camera and all itself works nicely. |
