Having the solar panel is a plus to add in the extension of the battery life while out in the field, which is what I wanted it to do. However, it is clear that the amount of power put into the batteries are highly dependent on where you put the camera. Which thinking about it now makes complete sense and I am slightly embarrassed that I didn't think that through initially.Now that I have it set up properly I will be able to place these into my woods and observe what critters wonder my property.
