I believe they speak the battery % when you first put the headphones on, I'm not 100% sure about that.I REALLY wanted to love these, and I did, but I couldn't justify the cost for what I was getting. First off, the sound quality was excellent. These were my first Bose headphones, and I expected the sound quality to be subpar, (I've used other open-ear headphones, 3 versions of SHOKZ) being they're open-ear, but the sound was the BEST thing about these. I tested the "spatial/immersive audio," it was trippy at first - cool use of technology, but I don't think I'd ever need/want that. I continued playing around in the app for a bit to learn the features and the button presses, which aren't inherent, so you'll have to look them up to find out what they are. More times than not, I would have connection issues. I'd put them on and they wouldn't sync together and play music, only one would be playing. I had to fully remove both of them, drop them in the case, and start over to get them to work again, or open the app, disconnect them, and reconnect them. It was a hassle and shouldn't be happening with a $300 product, especially from Bose. Also, the audio would intermittently pop or disconnect for a second on one or both of the earbuds. I don't feel like a $300 product should be doing this.That said, if these earbuds were in the $200 range, I would've considered keeping them. I also like all the different customizable ways to use the buttons from double-taps to tapping and holding.5. Audio Quality—When they are in the right position, they can sound really good! Especially considering that they aren't actually in my ear canal so I can still hear what's going on around me. I expected a more tinny sound from them, but again, if they are in the right position, they have a very full and deep sound to them.Cons:1. Quickly Uncomfortable—Typically within the first half an hour or so I'm starting to feel uncomfortable pressure where the buds are clamped to my ear. Usually I can slightly adjust them and the pain goes away, but because of how the earbuds are designed to work, adjusting their position even by a fraction of a millimeter can be the difference between sounding great, and sounding like my music is playing through an old 1970s radio.2. Audio Quality—It's definitely a double-edge sword. On one hand, if you know where to position them they can sound fantastic! But again, move them slightly and suddenly it sounds like music is playing underwater from a hundred feet away. Luckily the buds stay pretty solidly in place once you put them on, so the chances of the audio quality getting worse as you wear them is pretty slim. But if they get bumped or they slip, you'll need to adjust them again to get a good sound from them.3. Easily Drowned Out—If you're in a loud environment, the sound from the earbuds is very quickly drowned out. I've tried to use these while doing yardwork like mowing the lawn, and unless I have them at max volume, I can barely hear anything over the sound of the mower. In busy city settings, passing cards and people talking nearby can be enough to make it difficult to hear my music as well.4. Bad For Calls—Out of the few phone calls I've taken on these, I've always received a comment that the person on the other end can either hear everything that's going on around me, or they think I'm on speaker phone and yelling at them from across the room. So while they're okay if I'm in a quiet place and it's a short phone call, if I'm doing anything and it's going to be a longer discussion, they are far from ideal.5. No On-Ear Awareness—I'm used to my music pausing when I take my earbuds out. It's weird to have to manually pause my music when I pull these out, but that has to happen because they seem to have no sensors for when the earbuds are on my ears or not.As far as open earbuds go, they are fine.
