Great disappointment after being sold on so many positive reviews |
I currently have the SkullCandy Jib True 2 for which i paid $30 for. They sound very good but lack more modern features such as multi-point connection and have terrible mike performance for calls, which is a growing issue for me.So i did my research, and eventually considered the SoundPeats Air 4 Pro given all the glowing reviews out there. Supposedly: great sounding, solid fit, great mic performance. And given the lightning deal yesterday where this $80 item went for $35, i jumped in.To say i was disappointed is an understatement.- First, the sound is tiny. This is normally an $80 item and compared to my 2year old $30 skullcandy pair, there is simply no contest.- Second, i was unable to pair with my thinkpad laptop while also on my phone, so the multi-connect feature was a bust. Pairing with the laptop took many many tries too, whereas connecting to the phone was instantaneous.- Third, the controls are so sensitive that any time i touched the buds to reposition them in my ear, something would happen (turn off, skip a track, pause...). This happened a lot because the fit was not so great: the buds barely get in the ear canal, so they don't seal right either. I am not sure if it's the design that rests on the outer-ear and prevents the buds to enter in the canal, or simply the tip of the buds that are not long enough to get in. This is a thing the SkullCandy Jib True 2 have figured out so well.- Fourth, SoundPeats required me to register to use the product, and after i did, the application is simply abysmal: misspelled words, unworkable features etc... This is not OK.- Fifth, i didn't try call quality at this point so one of my major drive to this item was left untested.The only bright spot was that i have never experienced ANC and it was quite a revealing thing. This is a feature i think works great with this pair and i will miss it in my current set.In the end, after about 2 hours fiddling with these, i decided they were too much hassle and returned them. |

I bought these because I lost my other pair of soundpeats and was looking for a replacement. These were advertised as the newer model so I went with them. They have been an issue ever since I got them. The sound quality is awful. People constantly say they cannot hear me, and on my end there's a lot of fuzz and distance sounding on calls. Also tapping to adjust the volume ALWAYS hangs up on my calls, as does adjusting the earpiece so it stays in my ear. Such a hassle and not worth the money. I hope I can find the old model again because I loved those. These were twice the money and 10x the headache. |
