Overall the camera is pretty reasonable. The app is easy to use, and setup is super quick with a scan of the QR code on the device. It is nice being able to pan around so you can point the camera where you want. Mounting is easy. There is a bracket you screw in, and then you just slide the camera onto the mount. The solar panel does an OK job of charging the camera, and the battery is big enough that it should run forever depending on your settings. As with many other cameras, using it without a subscription is ok, but you don't get video clips with alerts. Now for the annoying parts. It has a TF card slot, but I haven't figured out what setting can make it useful. It isn't linked in any meaningful way to events, so you just get a list of videos that you need to watch to find anything. There is a 2x view speed setting, which is good. But you can't jump ahead to a later spot in the video. At least not until it fully loads, which takes 30 seconds or more. There is no option to continuously record to TF. The zoom is the other big issue. The camera may have an optical zoom, but it definitely isn't 10x. Based on the quality I would say it is 4x max, with digital zoom for the rest. When you are watching the live view you can select the zoom, but it is erratic. Sometimes you get very zoomed in, and sometimes it just zooms a little. And if you are trying to have events record at a particular zoom level, it sometimes works, and sometimes resets itself back to no zoom. I have recordings from overnight that are at around 3x zoom, and then at some random point they switch to no zoom. Very annoying. And the video quality is pretty mediocre. It says 2k, but it seems more like 640x480 expanded to 2k. |
