When one camera recently quit working (it overheats and cuts itself off), we decided to purchase this camera this month (May 2024) to replace it. We have had nothing but problems with this camera. To add this camera to our system, we had to delete CAM4 (that we were constantly being advised to "reconfigure the system" which required taking down from its mount on the house and bringing inside). Once the old camera was deleted, it should have been simple to "plug and play" the new. After 4 hours, we finally got the camera operating inside (mostly), we mounted it outside. Regardless of what we do, we cannot get the camera to track. Initially we could not get the camera to rotate at all. We finally got it to "cruise" - one time in each direction. Then it stops. We currently have the camera focused on our parked truck. The camera will move one click to the left and return. The picture is outstanding, but once a subject walks away from the vehicle, we just see the lonesome vehicle. We attempted to use the "preset" feature. I have beautiful shots of the six preset positions. Unfortunately, the camera does not go to these 6 positions. When we "cruise", we have a 360 degree radius. I asked if we could just have it move 180 degrees since we were getting 90 degrees of the side of the house and 90 degrees on the other side of the house; i was informed there is no way to have the camera only move 180 degrees. Do you want to see the siding on your house. Personally I would like for it to stop at the front door and the truck. If someone walks up the sidewalk, I would like to see them the entire distance. The manual is no help (but better than the manual we got with the 4-camera/NVR set).Following is the last response from Hiseeu. This is by far the best response I received:1. Sorry the camera only 360 degrees "cruise", not 180 degrees2. How far between your car and camera? Because the distance of auto tracking of camera is within 8ft, only the human go to the area which place with 8ft far from camera, the auto tracking will working.3. About the "When not on "cruise" the camera will focus on vehicle then move one space to left and return or one space to right and return. "--Did you set up the "Guaid Point"? For example, this camera has presets but you do not find out until you get one and set it up that you cannot change a preset. You have to delete it and create a new one. Odd. Silly. Annoying. Another thing is that it has motion detection, but not for automobiles (only humans and animals?). I would like to have events on humans or vehicles (not animals). Another issue is that you can write video to a Micro SD card but you can only stream to 'their' cloud service, even though you are connecting to your own wifi network. That is frustrating to say the least. I would like to be able to write video to a local drive on my computer. Next, I am getting a lot of 'Screen Change' events, where the camera seems to be moving itself permanently without being told to. I do not want the camera to move unless there is a qualifying event, and I do not want it to change the presets on its own, ever. This is infuriating. Next, the application gets stuck a lot and there should be the ability (through a 'cancel' button for example) to return to another window/view but in some cases they do not have this capability. Also, I do not seem able to control the camera unless I am right next to it and that is not good.The manual has no specifications in it. I was a bit peeved in reading the description on Amazon that there was no link to the manual, and no specs, but assumed that they would be with the device when it arrived, but they are not. This is not good.I have reached out to their customer support and they have yet to respond and it has been half a day already. It has Dual lenses so it can provide a wider shot and another lens for optical zoom abilities.With 2 Way Talk, Motion Detection and Auto Tracking (With some Issues that I will tell you about in the Final Thoughts), Pan/Tilt and 10x Optical Zoom Controls, and both an audible/Spotlight Flashing alarm function. It has 8 IR Lights and 8 Spotlights.It uses up to a 256GB micro SD Card or you can record to their cloud service (With a Subscription). Hiseeu also has an NVR this camera is compatible with, however, I don’t have that NVR on hand to test.This camera can use both Wireless (2.4GHZ Only) or ethernet cabling for data connection. This is NOT a POE-rated camera. The network port is for data only.Construction:The camera has a plastic body and mounts like most manufacturers, however, I was a bit unimpressed with the quality of the lightweight plastic they used on this model. It doesn’t feel sturdy, and it doesn’t feel high quality.There is no extra mounting plate for this camera, all screws go into the built-in plate that is attached to the camera arm.Hiseeu uses the Eseecloud App:The main page of the Esseecloud app will greet you with the cameras you have.Right below the camera before you go into it, you’ll see CLOUD, EVENTS, SHARE, and PLAYBACK.CONTROLS:When you’ve selected one of your cameras, your main controls are there with some additional that come up by hitting the “MORE” button. You have all the normal: SD/HD resolution switch, Light, Sound, Manual Recording Screenshot or Video, Expand the screen and the PTZ Controls take the center area right below all of theseTo the Right of the PTZ controls you’ll see a zoom slider, defaulted at 1.0x. You can go up to 10x optical zoomRight below the PTZ wheel, you get a big button for the MIC option.And below that from left to Right you have CLOUD, EVENTS, PRESET, and MORE.You get 6 Preset Positions using “Genearal mode” Which will give you a little thumbnail to show you the area. You can also use “Number Mode” For Additional preset positions. You have to use Number 7 to 255. So essential you can have 255 preset Positions, but you will only see the thumbnails for 1-6.In the MORE Features section, you get some quick access to things that normally you have to go in the settings for such as Motion Detection, Motion Tracking, Cruise, Photo Album, PTZ calibration, Smart Night Vision and Siren.This is also a nice touch.Cruise will basically move over so many frames in a panning motion at a time, and stop, and then continue to move, and stop. And Repeat that process.PLAYBACK:The playback button is always right there for you to see and when you click it, you get greeted with a timeline and highlighted current date. The timeline uses 2 colors, orange and Green. It tells you that orange is for Screen Movement and Green is Human Appears. When you hold your finger on the timeline and move it, you get greeted with a zoomed in feature so you can easily select your event. This is a VERY nice touch.If you subscribe to the Cloud, you can easily click the Cloud button to switch to those events.When you’re in playback you can also Speed it up (But you need the subscription service), Download the video, turn on/off volume, take a screenshot or Manually record it, and expand.SETTINGS:The setting area is pretty straightforward.-Motion Detection Alert. This is your main motion detection settings including motion tracking, detection areas, siren, and spotlight triggering during events.-Push Message settings. Your push notifications which you can also set to a schedule only if you want and an interval of 2, 10 and 30 minutes.-Recording Settings. You can do Event recording or 24/7 recording. Video Quality SD or HD, Record Sound on/off and Scheduled Recordings to only record during certain time periods.-Image Settings. Has your Night Vision Modes, inverting the image if you mount differently, device call volume (Mic volume), and Humanoid Detection Frame (motion Tagging). MORE companies should implement Motion tagging in their cameras. Its a useful feature and I’m glad they have it.-PTZ control. In cruise Mode, you can choose either Panoramic or Preset positions. PTZ calibration and PTZ Control Direction Flip.-Storage settings. This is where you can format your SD card and also download local video files.-Advance settings. This is the last section where you can connect to another wifi, synch time, and time zone settings, set up a device password, and enable Alexa authorization. But also where you can Restart the Camera from within the software, or delete the camera from your app/account.FINAL THOUGHTS:ISSUES:-Overall the App is easy to use on certain functions, one spot that either makes NO Sense or the app is broken.Under EVENTS:. This is always blank. If you check the Filter type there is 2 options. Screen Change and Someone is active. That tells me that if either of these 2 parameters is found i SHOULD see this kind of alert here. It’s never here. Recording events are on and I can see everything in the playback timeline, but events never show up. **As of the time of this review, i have reached out to support and am waiting for a response back on what is supposed to show in the Events Section**-The Motor Tracking on this Camera is SLOW. very Slow in fact. During multiple tests, it was easy for this camera to lose subjects completely. They should have motor control speed adjustment. Even manually panning/tilting your camera feels like an absolute Chore. And the Optical Zoom is also quite Slow which is a real shame. I can’t see this camera motion tracking people very often, let alone something like a vehicle that is going much faster. They need to fix this. I feel like this is the number#1 problem with this camera that needs to be addressed as soon as possible.-For a camera that has quite a few features, I feel like the construction should match that more and so far the construction on this has been a little disappointing. It’s not sturdy, the plastic quality doesn’t feel like strong ABS, It’s lightweight and just feels cheap, unfortunately.-I did have some glitches with the spotlights. Such as having IR lights only on for night vision and not using the lights during a detection event, the spotlights would still turn on. This didn’t happen all the time. So it seems like a bug to me.-I really don’t like that you can’t speed up your video playback unless you subscribe to their service. I understand using services for things like more AI Detection, and your cloud recordings, but video speed playback???? Come on. I recommend they reevaluate that. This is the 2nd biggest issue I think.POSITIVES:There is a lot to like about this camera even with the other things mentioned above. The image quality is quite good on this thing. Even with just using a 4MP sensor, the detail feels like it’s there.The spotlights are bright when using color night vision, and the night vision mode works well enough with the 8 IR Lights.The auto zoom in the timeline feature is something I wish i would see More of. It’s extremely useful, as well as the quick controls you get that normally you have to turn on/off in the settings functions like the motion tracking, Night vision modes, Cruise ..etcMotion tagging. I’m glad they have this! I feel like it should be standard in modern security cameras.I like that you get 255 Position presets! I can’t imagine using that many but the option is there at least.The controls are pretty well laid out. The optical zoom is right there next to your PTZ controls and the PTZ isn’t buried or anything behind a 2nd button. It’s all right in front of you and easy to get to as it should be.END:You get a lot with this camera. However, even with that, the negatives I’ve listed are going to cut back to 3 stars for me because I feel like those issues are large enough issues that need to be addressed. If you are paying for a PTZ camera, I would expect those motors to be faster and more fluid. It is a painful process watching this thing CRAWL along its video path.
