Instructions Are Worthless. |
A waste of money. I haven't the first clue how to use the thing. First, the instructions are in poorly written English with no diagrams, in type that is unreadably tiny (most adults will need to take a picture with a phone and zoom in). Second, the instructions say you need both a SIM and a "mini memory card". I don't know what that means. A mini SD card? There's nothing in the product description that says anything about that. The instructions say to insert the SIM in the "indicated direction", but it is not clear where either the SIM card or the "mini memory card" might go, even if I knew what the latter is. Even if you can figure all that out, there is a sequence of steps that require text messages, logins to Chinese web sites, and other actions that are impossible to figure out because the writing is so bad. But even if you could figure that out, you're basically giving unknown entities in China access to a SIM card and private conversations. No thank you.So this was a total waste of 25 bucks. I suppose I could return it. Maybe I will. I certainly can't use the thing. It seems to me that it would be way easier to put a SIM in an old Android phone, attach it to a Google account, turn on location services, and just use standard phone tracking software. Obviously, a phone would be clunkier than this device, but size and portability mean nothing if the device is unusable. Which this is. |
