I also took the camera into a pitch black room and found that it would not capture anything. it was just a black screen. It seems like the Infrared mode is really just toggling it to black and white from color rather than doing anything for low light photography. (Real IR works off minor temp differences from different materials rather than visible spectrum light.) If you actually want to use this to see what is happening at night, I suggest finding a well known name brand instead of buying this.
