Not even a year old, and is now garbage - BUYER BEWARE!! |
My husband bought this birdhouse for me as a gift for Mother's Day 2023. I was thrilled. But, when we installed it on a fence post, we found that the screws that hold the lid on the roof are literally just a quarter inch long. Well, if I'm not mistaken, most birdhouses are over grass or weeds or mulch, so if you drop just ONE screw, you're (yes, I'm saying it) screwed. So, I decided not to use the screws at all, and for the most part, the lid never came off until earlier this year. And it rained. I decided to take it down and clean it so that anything moldy could be removed. Not going to happen. The seeds have fallen into the corners of the bottom of the feeder (see third picture with blue circles). I cannot remove the seeds or clean in that area, so the feeder is now useless because the LAST thing I want to do is poison the beautiful birds.In addition to the ridiculous lid and the tiny screws, the solar panel has been peeling. I have no idea what this will cause on the panel as the weather changes, rain, snow, etc.For the length of time I've had it, I'm disappointed that it cost so much and lasted such a short time. The manufacturers should take a look at their reviews and begin modifications, such as a fixed wing nut type of closure on the lid. Plus, the owner should be able to open the entire thing to get into the crevices so the birds don't become sick or die from eating the mold. Finally, they should find a better way to protect the solar panel. I've had solar powered lights, and I never saw them peel like this.Don't bother wasting you money...and a lot of it....on this feeder. Now we're thinking of tearing the whole thing apart to salvage the camera for something else. |
