Do NOT purchase for anyone who isn't tech savvy |
While Birdfy tech support has been helpful, save yourself trouble and buy something else if you're giving this (or buying for yourself) and you're not tech savvy. This has been one thing after another getting this set up for my parents. I would not have purchased if I'd known this....so sharing to help others.The feeder is nice, sturdy and they loved the idea of it...just not the 4.5 hours (yes, four and a half hours) of setup support they needed from Birdfy AND their internet service provider to get it running. What a mess. |

Works well, however the app is more about marketing. $25 extra for a seed guard is outrageous. |
The app is quirky and it works okay, but unfortunately it is focused more on selling you additional features/accessories. Also, I bought a third party solar panel for $20 versus $30 for the Birdfy brand. The seeds are easily knocked out of the tray and spread out on the ground. To buy a guard so that birds have a harder time knocking out the seeds is outrageously priced at $25 for a piece of plastic that should have been included at no cost. Other than these complaints, it works well and does what I want. They so easily could have made this a five star winning product, but marketing and accounting got greedy. Buying a security camera and using birdfeeders that you already own might be a better alternative. The app identifying the birds is nice, but you can also just look them up online. |
