Best thing about this new version is you can switch ears in single mode so you don't have to blow out your right ear all the time. The noise reduction is also improved. The buds are smaller, not dorky-looking like the first generation, but maybe the first was more comfortable. I think they fit my ears a little better. The touch shortcut to play/pause is SO SLOW! By the time it pauses you're ready to start again and vice versa. I really hate that. Plus the touch shortcuts are different. Takes a while to get used to and that combined with the slow response if you clicked the wrong thing is very irritating. Because the buds are smaller it's harder to tap them right too. You hit on the side and then nothing happens so you hit again but it was only the slow response so you wind up pausing and starting again at the same time. I like the volume slide shortcuts. That's the one tactile improvement. Well also that you can use the same commands in either ear once you retrain yourself. The biggest con for me is the redesigned case. Designed more for portability than convenience. The previous lay-flat design made it pretty easy to get the buds in/out of case. But there is tons of fumbling around due to the new vertical design. It's about 10 times harder to get the buds in/out of the case now and you have to grab by the tiny earflap and be careful not to tug too hard or it will come off. That's not something that you can get used to, it's just as hard every single time. I would love it if I could buy a replacement case that was flat like the QC1s. I guess some people prefer the portability of the smaller size but it won't seem so great when you're trying to fumble the buds into the case and drop them in the street. |
