Could not get them to work |
I followed instructions as given and could not get either device to work, I had two. I reached out to customer service via chat, everything they told me to do I had done and repeated several times. I watched videos on YouTube followed those as well. I can’t really say how good or bad the cameras were/are, because I couldn’t get them to work. I ordered another brand that works great and has a customer service I can contact if needed! A BIG issue is not being able to speak with a person, it could have been something simple but I couldn’t speak to anyone to find that out. They are located in Hong Kong, which is fine, just made it more of a challenge. |

Good quality video, bad UI/UX and general use |
TLDR:Video quality is goodSites drift and are unusable for site patrol and general useMotion tracking hallucinates and pans the camera unexpectedlyEvent recording is unreliablePlayback has an awful user experienceStarting out with the good:The video quality is very good. For viewing in real time, the UI is good. You can pan and zoom, and the IR night vision is also decent. If a 360 degree patrol or a camera that points in a single direction 100% of the time is what you need, this is what you're looking for.Now for the bad:For context, I have one of these cameras along the long side of a room on a shelf to monitor my animals behavior. The camera cannot see the whole room in one shot, so I have to use some of the features. The ones available to me are 360 degree patrol, site patrol, and motion tracking. The 360 degree patrol is not optimal for my case since half of the time, it is pointing into the back of the shelf. The camera lets you set "Sites" and then has a site patrol mode to pan between them. This sounds great at first but there are two problems. (1) the site management on the app is terrible as of 01/13/24. You can add and remove sites fairly easily, but you cannot rearrange them so if you have 4 sites and you put them in the wrong order, site patrol will go from one to the next in that bad order, and you can't change it unless you delete all sites and readd in the proper order. Bad UX. (2) the sites drift horribly. After setting up 3 sites to patrol between (left, then middle, then right), by the next day, they are off by many degrees. Each one drifts to the left and by the end of the night, all three sites are staring at the back of my shelf. Unusable. The third option is motion control. This almost works. As the animals enter the room, motion control picks them up and tracks them until they leave the room, leaving the camera at the doorway. The problem is that the camera often hallucinates and moves somewhere random without any human-visible motion. Almost daily, it will hallucinate until it is looking at the back of my shelf, and then get stuck there until I notice and fix it. All three of these options being bad makes the camera virtually unusable for my situation.Moving on to recording and playback. There are two options available: event recording and continuous recording. Event recording is unreliable and activates about 50% of the time. Each event is 10s long and usually is not long enough to capture what I need it to, even if the motion is continual throughout the event. Continuous recording is what I use now. That in conjunction with the motion / sound alerts does a decent job of capturing what I need it to (provided the camera is pointing at something relevant. See above). The major problem is the UI. The camera has you install the app littleelf to interact with it remotely. The UI for playback is awful. For continuous recording, it starts you at 00:00 each day, and you have to scroll all the way to the time you want to see. For an event that it picks up (motion/sound) it lets you jump to that time code which is convenient, but it usually doesn't start at the beginning of the event. Scrolling back a few seconds is virtually impossible in this mode. You have to precisely slide the time bar, and on release, it jumps some amount of seconds/minutes. This can be easily fixed by software. Devs - please add the ability to jump to a user-specified timestamp, and please add the ability to jump forward and backwards by 10 seconds. Otherwise, the playback functionality is incredibly frustrating to use.Overall, this camera has a very niche use right now, and in my case, is almost completely unusable. I am happy to correct this review once the firmware gets updated to correct the problems with the site patrol and motion tracking I mentioned above, and the littleelf software gets patched to be less frustrating. |
