Cheap for a reason |
While these have been great they can be a pain to setup, requiring a laptop and ethernet cable, regardless of what hype they advertise. Memory cards are required but properly setting up their recording and then retrieving video is quite problematic. When they work, they work well but best to either be monitoring in the moment, or forget about it. You won't be able to rewind and see what was caught. Tried moving over to a new router and they just gave up. This has been problematic over the last four we've owned. Just spend the money and get a Ring or Arlo. |

A disappointment compared to previous model |
User features of pan/tilt/zoom are only intermittently controllable. The camera times out even when connected directly to the modem. Wireless feature is not usable and returns the message "password not matched" (I have 5 older Amcrest cameras using the wireless password that the new model would not accept.) Many features on the older versions (volume control, alarm sounds) aren't even available. The micro SD card location is directly under the camera and not noticeable unless you point the camera at the ceiling. The eject feature won't eject the SD card BTW. I purchased this because I was happy with my older Amcrest cameras, one of which is 1080P like this current disappointment. I'm not even going to attempt to return this "paperweight", but instead will just leave this review. I think I know why there was a discount on this camera. Oh Amcrest, what have you done with your IT department?? |
